December Sunrise

Every day I walk or run at the beach, I’m reminded of my good fortune — a body that still functions the way I want it to, a town with a public beach, a flexible work schedule that accommodates a leisurely morning fitness routine. And ever since I started meeting my neighbor Laurie for a walk a little earlier than usual Monday mornings, sunrise at the beach reminds me to be grateful for the simplest thing — the arrival of another day.

And though I’m usually out at sunrise, I couldn’t resist this sunset:
